Highland Road Conditions Report – Friday, 05 January 2024

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time.  It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Road Conditions Reports for Friday, 5 January 2024 are as follows:

Badenoch and Strathspey
08:47 - Temperatures recovering quicker than forecast in the South of the area this morning. Ice in the North of the area. Topping up salt on network prior to a cold dry weekend.

Nairn
08:45 - Temperatures recovered quicker than forecast this morning. Precipitation is light or stopped so topping up salt on network prior to a cold dry weekend.

Ward 5 Wester Ross
08:37 - Roads wet and positive temperatures so no winter issues.

Easter Ross-shire
08:22 - Roads wet. No winter related issues.

Caithness
08:17 - Positive road temperatures so no action required. No overnight issues reported

Sutherland
07:49 – Wet roads. No action taken

Skye and Raasay
06:47 - Gritters stood down from primary routes. Road temperatures higher than forecast.

Inverness
06:09 - Roads wet. No problems
