Following the announcement that the Spectrum Centre will close on 31 August 2025, Adult Learning classes have temporarily relocated to the Cameron Youth Centre, Planefield Rd, Inverness IV3 5DN until such time as a permanent base can be identified for the team. The Adult Learning team continue to be contactable by email (adultlearning@highland.gov.uk) and phone (07818 588 257).

The Highland Council’s Adult Learning service operates in Inverness and throughout Highland, offering adult literacy, adult numeracy, digital skills and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Education Committee Chair, Cllr John Finlayson said: “The Highland Council recognises the important work that Adult Learning do in Inverness and communities across Highland, the benefits of which can be far reaching and life changing. By offering individuals the opportunity to improve core skills like reading, writing, using numbers and English language, adult learners feel more confident, independent, and healthier, helping them to live fuller lives.

“The Spectrum Centre has been the venue in which many people benefited; however, it is important to let people know that Adult Learning in all its capacity continues, just in a new location.

“I commend the Adult Learning service for their quick action to ensure that classes can continue with minimal disruption.”

Adult Learner, Nadia Yatchenko: “Through the opportunities you provide — whether in learning languages, building skills, or simply connecting with others — you help us not only to adapt but also to feel part of the wider Inverness community. Thanks to your work, many of us found friends, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Please know that your efforts have made a real difference in people’s lives.”
