Deadline approaches for Common Good consultation proposals

Residents in both Cromarty, and Fortrose and Rosemarkie still have time to respond to Common Good consultation proposals.

Residents are reminded that they have until 29 September to respond to statutory Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 consultations with regards to proposals affecting Common Good properties in the two former Burghs of Cromarty, and Fortrose and Rosemarkie.

The properties subjected to the consultations are the Rosemarkie Caravan Park, Fortrose Golf Club Car Park, and East Church Hall in Cromarty.

The Rosemarkie Caravan Park consultation relates to a lease extension to the existing tenants to operate the site for a further 30-year period.  This will continue to provide tourism provisions in the area.

The Fortrose Golf Club Car Park consultation also relates to a lease extension, which will allow the provision of car parking facilities for golfing members.  The lease proposal is for 20-years.

The East Church Hall consultation relates to the Cromarty Community Development Trust taking on a lease of the former East Church Hall. It is proposed to transform the property and associated grounds into a multi-functional community hub. The lease arrangement would be for a 25-year period however if the venture proves successful, the Trust would like to acquire full ownership of the asset in the future.

The Council is keen to hear the views of residents of the two former Burghs of Cromarty, and Fortrose and Rosemarkie on the proposals affecting their local community.  All submissions will be given full regard before decisions are taken at the relevant Committee on each of the proposals.  The consultation representations and responses including final decisions will be published on the Council’s website.

Residents are reminded to respond to each of the consultations separately by close of play on the 29 September 2025
