Resurfacing of Bridge Street, Castle Road and Castle Street, Inverness

UPDATE (Tuesday 7 October 2025):

Due to the weather, the closure of Bridge Street/Castle Street will be in place from Monday 29 September until Thursday 2 October and from Sunday 5 October until Thursday 9 October 2025 and shall only apply between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00.

22 September 2025

Highland Council is planning to carry out road resurfacing works on Bridge Street, Castle Road and Castle Street, Inverness, commencing on Monday 29 September 2025 and extending over 8 nights, from 8pm each night until 6am each morning.

To try and minimise any disruption, works will be carried out overnight when traffic volumes are lighter. No works will be undertaken on Friday 3 October and Saturday 4 October.

Monday 29 September – plane out existing road surface on Bridge Street and Castle Road as shown below and adjust the levels of any ironwork (e.g. manhole covers, etc) if required. (Figure 1)

Tuesday 30 September and Wednesday 1 October – lay new surfacing on Bridge Street and Castle Road.

Thursday 2 October – plane out existing road surface on Castle Street as shown below and adjust the levels of any ironwork (e.g. manhole covers, etc) if required. (Figure 2)

Sunday 5 and Monday 6 October – lay new surfacing on Castle Street.

Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 October – replace road markings throughout
