Winter road condition and school closure report for 21 November 2025.

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Lochaber (as at 09:16)

Winter action as planned, very low temperatures, some icy patches, no problems overnight.

Sutherland (as at 08.50)

A very cold night all routes affected by icy patches. Higher routes still have some frozen snow. All routes currently being treated in order of priority. No known issues.

Skye and Raasay (as at 08:44)

Cold night with road temperatures well below zero following early evening showers. Icy patches throughout. Treatment currently ongoing on Primary & Secondary Routes to extend onto untreated other routes as resources become available.

Ross & Cromarty East (as at 08:17)

Negative road surface temperatures and air temperatures this morning.  The evening treatment from yesterday held well on Primary routes.  Frozen run off and hoar frost being reported on secondary routes this morning.  Treatment ongoing of all routes and footways. No overnight issues reported.

Inverness (as at 07:34)

Low road surface temperatures this morning with damp roads, salt holding on main routes. Covering all routes and footpaths, no known issues.

Caithness (as at 07:14)

Temperature a good bit below zero, gritting as required.  No other overnight issues to report.

Ward 5 Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh (as at 06:32)

Extreme caution advised.  Sub-zero road surface temperatures this morning.  All routes launched with road surface temperatures improving late morning.  No overnight issues reported.

Badenoch and Strathspey (as at 06:22)

Negative temperatures across the network this morning.  Frost with black ice on all routes. Drivers are advised to drive to the conditions of the road.  All routes being treated this morning. Footways being treated as well.

Nairn (as at 06:20)

Negative temperatures across the network this morning. Frost and ice on higher routes with black ice on lower routes. Drivers are advised to drive to the conditions of the road. All routes being treated this morning. Footways being treated as well.
