Area Place Plan agreed for Badenoch and Strathspey
Members of the Badenoch and Strathspey Committee have agreed to adopt an Area Place Plan for the region.
The Area Place Plan (APP) has been developed with a place-based approach and will be used as a tool to inform and support decision making about Badenoch and Strathspey alongside existing plans and policies for the area.
Chair of the Committee, Councillor Russell Jones, said: “The Area Place Plan will capture the common themes and priorities for Badenoch and Strathspey and present these in a comprehensive document that will not only reflect the aspirations of the local community, but will also align with existing localised plans to ensure that this area can thrive as a sustainable and prosperous community.
“Priorities will be categorised under three pillars of People, Place and Prosperity which will offer a strong framework for informing decisions on service design and delivery and support the development of a shared vision for Badenoch and Strathspey. This vision will outline the community’s priority outcomes and a bespoke action plan of how they will be achieved. We look forward to working with local people to understand local needs and opportunities, and continuing community engagement activities to build a shared understanding of how best we can maximise positive impacts for people living in Badenoch and Strathspey.”
The Badenoch and Strathspey Area Place Plan takes the form of an indexing report which draws together content from existing plans already developed by statutory and community partners.
The APP was developed in conjunction with the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) and Voluntary Action Badenoch and Strathspey (VABS) leading the review of existing Community Action Plan priorities. Many pieces of community engagement work have been carried out by CNPA and VABS along with wider statutory partners including NHS Highland to identify Area priorities.
