The Highland Council’s Leader to attend Scottish Cities Week in London 19-21 January
The Highland Council’s Leader Councillor Raymond Bremner will be attending Scottish Cities Week in London next week (19-21 January) to promote investment and development opportunities in the Highlands to an international audience.
The event, held each year in London and considered to be one of the prominent events in the calendar, provides a focused opportunity to create and develop long-term strategic partnerships, with a wide array of investors from around the globe due to attend.
The Leader, who is the also Chair of the Scottish Cities Alliance is looking forward to taking part in this key strategic event. He said: “The event is about promoting strategic partnerships that drive growth in sectors where Scotland leads globally - clean energy, digital technologies, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing.
“Scotland’s 8 cities are stronger together. By working collaboratively, we can deliver inclusive, future-ready growth that benefits communities and beyond.”
The Scottish Cities Alliance, is a unique collaboration of Scotland’s eight cities – Aberdeen, Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling – and the Scottish Government working together to promote the country’s great economic potential.
The event ties in with the council’s Invest Highland brand which is aimed at promoting the Highlands’ wealth of investment opportunities.
Cllr Raymond Bremner added: “The Highland region is really coming into its own and is attracting interest from all over the world. We have so much to offer inward investors. Taking part in Scottish Cities Week is going to be a great platform for showcasing the world class opportunities which exist throughout our area.
“Attracting new investment to the Highlands is essential to address societal challenges and unlock transformational change.”
The delegation will be taking this opportunity to specifically showcase opportunities from the Invest Highland Prospectus.”
These opportunities include:
- Clean Energy - accelerating offshore wind, green hydrogen, marine energy and grid‑critical infrastructure and supply chains
- Green Freeport – driver of economic transformation and globally significant investment
- Regional Infrastructure & Skills – powering a programme for sustainable and inclusive growth across our area
