Badenoch and Strathspey Committee has awarded £5,316.26 of Community Regeneration Funding to the Newtonmore Village Hall project.
Members of the Badenoch and Strathspey Committee have today awarded £5,316.26 of Community Regeneration Funding to the Newtonmore Village Hall project.
The funding will support the installation of a new energy-efficient LED lighting system which will help lower running costs and create a more sustainable, welcoming space for the wide range of groups using the hall.
Councillor Russell Jones, Chair of the Badenoch and Strathspey Committee, said: “The first phase of the hall’s regeneration project is underway, and the new lighting system will be a key element of this phase. It is an important step in the community’s efforts to modernise the building whilst improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. The new system will enhance safety and usability by allowing groups to use the hall more in the evening and during winter which will in turn help to increase participation and reduce social isolation within the community.
“Community Regeneration Funding helps us support key projects in the heart of our communities and I am pleased that this additional funding will allow the project to be taken forward and bring welcome improvements that the whole community will benefit from.”
Community Regeneration Funding is an umbrella term for several funds that are available for communities and organisations to access in Highland.
