Still time to have your say on Thurso’s future
If you missed the recent public consultation events on £100m investment in education and community facilities in Thurso, there’s still time to give your views.
Over 150 members of the public attended who live, work, or study in Thurso came along to the public consultation events on 9 and 10 December to give their views and ideas on shaping the future of Thurso.
The Highland Council is investing £100m to redevelop Thurso High School site and to create a Community Point of Delivery (POD) potentially incorporating primary and secondary education and other community services.
This pre-consultation is happening before any statutory consultation in relation to schools and planning applications which will be undertaken in 2026.
In Thurso, the proposed Community PoD will focus on education and community facilities provision and potentially could include (based on community feedback) office and meeting spaces; an innovation centre and services delivered by local partners such as NHS Highland and UHI.
There is real potential to create a connected education campus offering lifelong learning, skills development, and strong links with wider community services.
