Ten Community Regeneration Fund applications approved for Inverness

The City of Inverness Area Committee has today (2 February 2026) approved ten applications submitted to the Community Regeneration Fund (CRF), securing major investment to support local projects that will benefit communities across Inverness city and area.

Leader of Inverness and Area Cllr Ian Brown said: “I am delighted that Inverness Members can support a wide range of projects with these awards that will help to improve a range of sport and outdoor activities, community projects, children’s play and tourism and leisure across Inverness area.

“Demand for Community Regeneration Fund support remains high, demonstrating the strength of ambition and community-led activity across our area.”

A total of £400,762.97 has been awarded to initiatives that align with the fund’s priorities of increasing community resilience, tackling poverty and inequality, addressing rural depopulation, supporting economic recovery, and contributing to climate action.

The successful projects are:

  • Highland Rugby Football Club for the installation of container seating – £34,050.00.
  • Abriachan Forest Trust compost toilet refurbishment – £40,312.51.
  • Hawthorn Allotments Association for community allotments - £61,370.00.
  • Hilton Milton Castle Heather Community Council for Hilton and Milton Play Parks - £77,808.46.
  • Free North Church restoration project - £10,000.00.
  • Knocknagael Green Hub - £89,456.00.
  • The Highland Council:
    • Green Space Enhancements at Inverness Castle – £35,000.00.
    • Cavell Gardens - £12,766.00.
    • Footpath works - £30,000.00; and
  •  Inverness BID – community improvement district set up - £10,000.00.

The Community Regeneration Fund brings together Scottish Government funding streams, including the Highland Coastal Communities Fund and the Place Based Investment Programme, to support economic regeneration and sustainable development throughout Highland.
