There will be a number of temporary prohibitions of traffic and temporary speed restrictions on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 March 2026 during the Inverness Half Marathon and 5K events.
The restrictions are required to ensure the safe passage of participants taking part in the event and will apply during the dates and times provided below.
Vehicles will not be permitted on the following roads:
- U3821 Bught Avenue, Inverness, closed between its junction with the U3822 Bught Drive and its junction with the U3823 Bught Road, from 08:00 hours to 16:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- U3823 Bught Road, Inverness, closed between its junction with the U3821 Bught Avenue and its junction with the U4158 Ness Walk Upper, from 08:00 hours to 16:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. (Closure starts at junction into the Highland Archive Centre; section to Bught Avenue will reopen, once the races have started, to enable access to the Crazy Golf car park).
- U4158 Ness Walk Upper, Inverness, closed between its junction with the U3823 Bught Road and its junction with the U3788 Ballifeary Lane, from 08:00 hours to 16:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- U4158 Ness Walk Upper, Inverness, closed between its junction with the U3788 Ballifeary Lane and its junction with the U3813 Bishops Road, from 11:00 hours to 15:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- U3813 Bishops Road, Inverness, closed between its junction with Ness Walk (forming part of the U4624 Ness Walk – Ardross Terrace – Ardross Street) and its junction with Ardross Terrace (U4624), from 11.00 hours to 12.00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- U3813 Bishops Road, Inverness, closed to southbound traffic between its junction with Ness Walk (U4624) and its junction with Ardross Terrace (U4624), from 12.00 hours to 15.30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for northbound traffic will be maintained.
- Ardross Terrace (U4624), Inverness, closed between its junction with the U3813 Bishops Road and its junction with Ness Walk (U4624), from 11:00 hours to 15:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- Ness Walk (U4624), Inverness, closed between its junction with Young Street (forming part of the B861 Inverness – Leys – Inverarnie Road) and its junction with Ardross Terrace (U4624), from 11:00 hours to 15:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- B861 Inverness – Leys – Inverarnie Road; single lane closure (south side) of westbound carriageway and footway closure (south side), between its junction with Castle Road (forming part of the B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road) and its junction with Ness Walk (U4624), from 11:00 hours to 15:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- Castle Road (B862), Inverness, closed between its junction with Haugh Road (B862) and its junction with Bridge Street (B861), from 11:00 hours to 13:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- Castle Road (B862), Inverness, closed to northbound traffic, between its junction with Haugh Road and its junction with Bridge Street (B861), from 13:00 hours to 15:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for southbound traffic will be maintained.
- C1201 Ness Bank and Cavell Gardens Road, Inverness, closed to through traffic between its junction with Castle Road (B862) and its junction with Island Bank Road (B862), from 11:00 hours to 14:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Access to local properties will be maintained, from the junction with Castle Road (B862).
- B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road, closed between its junction with Holm Roundabout (A8082) and its junction with Haugh Road (B862), from 11:00 hours to 13:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores - Inverness Road, closed to northbound traffic, between its junction with Holm roundabout (A8082) and its junction with Haugh Road (B862), from 13.00 hours to 15.00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for southbound traffic will be maintained.
- B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road, closed between its junction with Holm Roundabout (A8082) and its junction with the U5641 Brodie Road (Ness Castle Distributor Road), from 11:50 hours to 12:20 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road, closed to southbound traffic, between its junction with Holm Roundabout (A8082) and its junction with the C1040 Torbreck Road, from 11:00 hours to 13:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for northbound traffic will be maintained.
- C1040 Torbreck Road closed between its junction with the B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores –Inverness Road and its junction with the C1064 Inverness – Ashie Moor Road, from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- C1064 Inverness – Ashie Moor Road, closed between its junction with the C1040 Torbreck Road and its junction with Essich Roundabout (A8082), from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- Stratherrick Road (forming part of the C1064 Inverness – Ashie Moor Road), Inverness, closed between its junction with Essich Roundabout (A8082) and its junction with the U4614 Ardness Place, from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- A8082 Inverness Southern Distributor Road closed to southbound traffic, between Ness Side Roundabout (A8082) and Holm Roundabout (A8082), from 11:00 hours to 13:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for northbound traffic will be maintained.
- Stratherrick Road (C1064), Inverness, closed to southbound traffic, between its junction with the U4614 Ardness Place and its junction with the U4096 Lochardil Road, from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for northbound traffic will be maintained.
- U4096 Lochardil Road, Inverness, closed to southbound traffic, between its junction with Stratherrick Road (C1064) and its junction with the U3872 Drummond Road, from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for northbound traffic will be maintained.
- U3872 Drummond Road, Inverness, closed to southbound traffic, between its junction with the U4096 Lochardil Road and its junction with the U3824 Burn Road, from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for northbound traffic will be maintained.
- U3824 Burn Road, Inverness, closed between its junction with the U3872 Drummond Road and its junction with Culduthel Road (B861), from 11:00 hours to 14:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
- Culduthel Road (B861), Inverness, closed to northbound traffic between its junction with the U3824 Burn Road and its northernmost junction with the U4016 Green Drive, from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for southbound traffic will be maintained.
- U4016 Green Drive, closed to northbound traffic between its northernmost junction with Culduthel Road (B861) and its southernmost junction with Culduthel Road (B861), from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for southbound traffic will be maintained.
- Culduthel Road (B861), Inverness, closed to northbound traffic between its southernmost junction with the U4016 Green Drive and its junction with the A8082 Inverness Southern Distributor Road, from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026. Vehicular access for southbound traffic will be maintained.
- A8082 Inverness Southern Distributor Road, closed between its junction with Holm Roundabout (A8082) and its junction with Culduthel Road (B861), from 11:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
There will also be a temporary speed limit of 20 miles per hour on the B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road commencing at its junction with Holm Roundabout and extending in a northerly direction to a point 34 metres, or thereby, south of its southernmost junction with the U3809 Bellfield Park Inverness, from 09:45 hours to 15:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
A temporary speed limit of 20 miles per hour will also be in place on the B862 Fort Augustus – Whitebridge – Torness – Dores – Inverness Road, between its junction with Holm Roundabout (A8082) and its junction with the C1040 Torbreck Road, from 11:00 hours to 13:00 hours on Sunday 8 March 2026.
Emergency services vehicles being used in an emergency for ambulance, coastguard, fire brigade or police purposes, and vehicles employed to ensure the safety of the event participants are exempt from the restriction and prohibitions detailed in the Order.
Vehicles driven under escort are exempt from the restriction and prohibitions detailed in the Order.
