Operational Update For Customers

Following Transport Scotland’s announcement today (Monday 16 March 2026) that funding has been provided to enable the Wick Public Service Obligation (PSO) to operate until 14 August 2026, The Highland Council would like to advise passengers of the following updates:

  • Tickets will shortly be on sale for the period 1 April to 14 August 2026
  • Following customer feedback, a revised timetable has been put in place, with later return flights from Aberdeen on Monday-Thursday from 1 April 2026
  • As a result of a substantial increase in the cost of fuel due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, a price rise of £7.50 per ticket (one way) will apply from 1 April 2026

The contract for the PSO was awarded under an emergency procurement exercise to Air Charter Scotland in December 2025, following the failure of the previous operator, Eastern Airways.

Air Charter Scotland have been operating on the route since 14 January 2026. From 1 March, the route has been operated using an 18-seat Jetstream 32 aircraft, and this aircraft will continue on the route until the end of the contract period.

Information about the PSO can be found on The Highland Council’s website, and tickets can be purchased direct from Air Charter Scotland.
