Recruitment is now underway for a Neighbourhood Board Chair in Sutherland to support almost £20 million of funding awarded by the UK Government’s Pride in Place Programme.
The Pride in Place Programme aims to build stronger communities and put power into the hands of local people, supporting them to decide how to regenerate their local area. North, West and East Sutherland was selected as the neighbourhood in Highland to receive £19.6 million over the next 10 years.
As the Accountable Body for the funding, Highland Council will establish a community led Neighbourhood Board for the selected area with an independent Chair.
Alan Webster, Service Lead for Economic Development and Regeneration, said: “The Pride in Place Programme puts local people at the heart of decision-making and this funding is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Sutherland to invest in projects that will make a real difference to their communities. We are now at the stage of establishing a board and recruiting an independent Chair who can bring communities together to share their ideas in an open and collaborative way.
“The Chair will play a vital role in championing their neighbourhood during the 10-year scheme by ensuring that community voices guide priorities and supporting the development of ambitious local plans that will drive regeneration and investment in Sutherland.”
An open recruitment process is now underway with applicants asked to complete an expression of interest form by 17 May 2026. The form and more information can be found on our website.
