Highland Filmmakers Lead Strong Showing in FilmG Awards Shortlists

Filmmakers, schools and Gaelic media students from across the Highland region have been shortlisted for this year’s FilmG Awards, with a particularly strong showing from Skye, Inverness, Lochaber, Ross-shire, Caithness and Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

FilmG has announced the shortlists for FilmG 18, this year’s edition of the Gaelic short film competition, with the winners to be revealed at an awards ceremony at the SEC in Glasgow on Thursday 11 June 2026.

Highland schools feature strongly, including nominations for Ardnamurchan High School, Lochaber High School, Inverness Royal Academy, Plockton High School, Nairn Academy, Alness Academy and Thurso High School. Fèis Rois is also shortlisted in the Heritage category for Òran.

In the -12 competition, Broadford Primary School, Dunvegan Primary School, Club FilmG Stafainn, Lochcarron Primary School and Dingwall Primary School are among the Highland entries shortlisted across Drama, Comedy, Heritage and FilmG Choice Award categories.

The winners will be announced at the FilmG Awards on Thursday 11 June 2026 at the SEC in Glasgow. All shortlisted films are available to watch at www.filmg.co.uk.
