A number of projects have been supported by funding allocations agreed at today’s Sutherland County Committee.
Community regeneration projects
Members approved £95,000 of Community Regeneration Funding in support of two community projects in Sutherland.
£45,000 of funding was approved for major refurbishment of Invershin Village Hall including a full roof replacement, a new heating and lighting system and flooring works.
£50,000 was also approved for Golspie Youth Action Project to fund a full-time Charity Manager for a year which will strengthen the delivery, governance and sustainability of the charity which provides essential youth services across East Sutherland.
Play park improvements
£150,500 of place-based investment funding has been allocated for play park improvements across Sutherland, supporting upgrades to local facilities and inclusive equipment for children and young people. Play park equipment will be refurbished in Lochinver, Kinlochbervie, Ardgay, Bonar Bridge, Dornoch, Golspie and Embo.
Ward Discretionary funding
£961.98 of funding was approved for Lochview Rural Training in Lairg for 2026/27 and members also noted the approval of 21 Ward Discretionary Budget projects between 1 April 2025 and 1 February 2026. A variety of local groups and projects benefited from funding including £1,400 for Durness Community Council, £1,250 for Bonar Bridge Community Hall, £2,818 for Golspie High School and £975 for Embo Football Club.
