The Highland Council is aware of ongoing commentary online relating to allegations of bullying at Ben Wyvis Primary School in Conon Bridge.
While the Council cannot comment on individual cases, we recognise this is a sensitive matter. We want to reiterate that all allegations relating to bullying are taken seriously, acted upon promptly, and thoroughly investigated, with appropriate action taken, where required.
We are committed to handling concerns raised with care, empathy and respect, and will continue to engage constructively and respectfully with individuals who have any concerns, ensuring the health and wellbeing of pupils is prioritised.
In recent days we have become increasingly concerned by the nature of some online commentary, which has included instances of abuse, intimidation, and harassment directed at school staff. In some cases, individuals have been wrongly identified and subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable comment. This is having a significant impact not only on our staff, but on the wider school community. Any inappropriate or potentially unlawful communication will be reported to the relevant platform or to police. We take any abuse of our staff seriously and are working closely with the school and relevant unions to ensure appropriate support is in place.
Highland Council and Ben Wyvis Primary Parent Council have full confidence in the leadership team and staff at the school, who remain committed to providing a safe, supporting, and inclusive learning environment for all children.
We encourage anyone with concerns to get in touch by contacting us on schoolactions.south2@highland.gov.uk
