A flag raising ceremony led by the Provost of Inverness will take place on Monday, 22 June at The Inverness Castle Experience esplanade.
The ceremony marks the beginning of Armed Forces Week which culminates in Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27 June.
Armed Forces Day flags will be raised on buildings and landmarks around the country including at Inverness Town House and Highland Council’s Headquarters at Glenurquhart Road.
Provost of Inverness and Area, Cllr Glynis Campbell Sinclair said: “We’re supporting Armed Forces Day to show our appreciation for the brave men and women who put their country before themselves to protect our way of life.”
“This is a chance for us to show our support for the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service Families, veterans, and cadets.
“We will honour our armed forces on the 22 June at Inverness Castle Experience with this simple flag raising ceremony to recognise the work that they do protecting our communities and country.
“Highland Council continues to support the Armed Forces through its lead role within the Armed Forces Covenant which is a commitment and demonstration of our support alongside our Partners, to our Armed Forces Community.
A short flag raising ceremony will take place outside the front entrance to The Inverness Castle Experience on the esplanade (weather permitting) on Monday 22 June commencing at 10:45 and a welcome by the Provost of Inverness at 10:50. The Rev John Cuthbert will give a Blessing at 10:53 and there will be a short flag raising ceremony at 10:55.
Several Standards including Inverness Branch, Royal British Legion Scotland and cadets will also be on parade.
