The Inverness Royal Academy Filmmaking Club recently visited the Highland Council Bus Depot as part of an exciting collaboration to create a short film focused on bus rules and etiquette.
The ten pupils travelled to and from the depot with their teacher Miss Friedman on a regular service bus, giving them a real experience of using public transport as passengers. Once at the depot, the group worked on filming a video highlighting appropriate behaviour and expectations when travelling by bus, helping to promote positive travel etiquette in a clear and engaging way.
The pupils had a fantastic time using the bus network in a practical context and capturing footage on location. The project gave them the opportunity to apply their filmmaking skills in a real-world setting while also learning more about how to be respectful and responsible passengers.
Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans said: “It’s fantastic to see such creativity and enthusiasm from the pupils at Inverness Royal Academy. This project is a great example of young people using their talents to promote positive behaviour and support our public transport network. I’d like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and commitment, and I very much look forward to seeing the finished film.”
The club is now busy editing the video and bringing the final piece together, with the aim of completing it before the summer break. Overall, it was a successful and enjoyable day, and a valuable opportunity for pupils and a local service to work together.
