Only two weeks left to take part.

Early feedback from the public consultation on a potential long-distance Park & Ride facility in or near Inverness is helping to build a picture of what matters most to people travelling to and from the Highlands.

The Highland Council wants to thank everyone who has taken part in the consultation, which still has another two weeks to run. Feedback received so far shows a broad range of views on the potential for a long-distance Park & Ride facility in or near Inverness.

Common themes include the importance of keeping parking affordable, ensuring good onward connections to key destinations such as Inverness city centre, the bus and rail stations, Raigmore Hospital and the airport, and making sure any site is safe, secure and accessible.

Respondents have also commented on potential locations, with some favouring a site south of Inverness near the A9, while others see benefits in a location near Longman, the Kessock Bridge or north of the city. Some feedback has suggested that more than one site, or alternative locations such as Tore, North Kessock or areas towards the airport, should also be considered.

Other points raised include the need to avoid adding to congestion, the importance of reliable bus and rail services, and the potential for facilities such as toilets, shelter, CCTV, EV charging, cycle parking and accessible parking.

The short survey is available on the Council’s new engagement platform – engage.highland.gov.uk and should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. The survey is open to anyone who travels between the Highlands and the Central Belt, regardless of where they live.

The consultation is open until midnight on 31 July 2026

Anyone with an interest in the proposals is encouraged to take part and share their views.

Feedback will help inform the next stage of work and support the Council in considering whether Park and Ride at Inverness could improve connections for longer-distance travel in future.
