Police Scotland continues to co-ordinate the multi-agency response to the significant wildfire in the Cairngorms National Park, near Glenmore.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, alongside partners from Highland Council, Cairngorms National Park Authority, RSPB and Forestry and Land Scotland are carrying out further firefighting activity to tackle the large fire.
We are reminding the public that there is an exclusion zone around the area impacted by the fire and asking people, including walkers, to stay away.
The C7 Ski Road remains closed at Coylumbridge as well as access to Loch Morlich to keep the area clear for those responding.
Police Scotland, along with partners, has been supporting people displaced by the fire to return and collect belongings. If you have not already done so, please call 01349 886691 to register your details. You will then be contacted to arrange access.
Chief Inspector Scott Robertson from Highland and Islands Division said: “While we are pleased to hear there has been encouraging signs across the affected aera, this remains an ongoing emergency response and is likely to continue over the coming days.
“The area around Glenmore, Loch Morlich and Abernethy remains closed to visitors, including walkers, and as public safety is a priority we urge people to stay away from these areas.
“I also want to pass on my thanks to the local community, on behalf of all partners involved, for their support to the response effort with offers of help and providing food.”
