The MV Corran is currently out of service until further notice following a fault on the vessel on Thursday 30 July.
Outage duration - An indication of the likely timescale for the outage is expected early next week, and further updates will be provided as soon as the timeline is determined.
What is the fault - Engineers have identified the issue as being related to an onboard pump. The component is being transferred to a specialist repair company in Glasgow for further assessment, while the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Voith, is mobilising a specialist engineer to support investigations on site.
Relief vessel – The Maid of Glencoul is at annual refit, and commissioning and sea trials being scheduled week commencing 10 August 2026. Every effort is being made to expedite completion. In the meantime, no vehicle capacity is available and alternative routes are via roads or foot passenger only.
Road Diversions - The A861 alternative routes around the Loch are expected to be busier than usual. Drivers are asked to:
- Allow extra journey time
- Avoid travelling in convoy
- Use passing places to let traffic safely pass
Foot Passenger Services - Contingency arrangements are in place for foot passengers only.
- Return foot passenger services between both Corran and Camusnagaul are operating to the normal timetable, the Camusnagaul–Fort William service is also operating an enhanced timetable to support increased demand, and a shuttle bus service is available between Corran and Fort William.

- Depart Corran: 08:05 and hourly until 18:05
- Depart Fort William: 08:45 and hourly until 18:45
