There has been a phased reduction of the road cordon at Coylumbridge today to allow people to attend the Refuel event at Badaguish Outdoor Centre this week.
Access beyond this cordon is being managed by The Highland Council's roads team.
This will allow access for event attendees as far as Budaguish, where event organisers are strictly managing entry and exit, and preventing further public access into the Glenmore Forest and Loch Morlich area, which remains a live incident ground. Access to the event will require proof of site access or a valid event ticket.
Road and access restrictions in the wider area remain under daily review by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and other multi-agency partners.
It is hoped there will be more information available later this week about access to reopen the Glenmore area.
A public access management plan is being finalised to ensure public footfall and traffic is managed when the road reopens, and to minimise assess to the incident area via forest paths, biking trails, and roads. As cordons are reduced, routes in and out of the incident area will be fully signposted, with clear guidance on what areas are accessible.
Firefighting activity continues in areas to dampen down hotspots at risk of further ignition, although good progress is being made. Ongoing firefighting operations, the movement of heavy machinery, unsteady trees and work to remove them, and helicopter operations means there is still risk to the public in the incident area.
The Council, along with NHS Highland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Inverness, Badenoch and Strathspey Citizens Advice Bureau, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and Cairngorms National Park Authority, is hosting a series of drop-in sessions this week.
They continue tomorrow (Wednesday 5 August) in the MacDonald Aviemore Resort, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
