The Highland Council can confirm that warning signage relating to blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) at Loch Morlich has been removed following recent monitoring and assessment.
Following a site visit and review of the latest monitoring results, no visible evidence of cyanobacteria was identified at the loch. In addition, the most recent water sample returned a negative result. Relevant health protection partners reviewed the findings and agreed that the warning signage was no longer required.
The Highland Council would like to thank partners at Glenmore for their assistance during the investigation and for helping to keep visitors informed while monitoring was ongoing.
Residents and visitors can continue to enjoy Loch Morlich. As with any natural water environment, people should remain aware of changing conditions and follow any future public health advice if issued.
