People across Sutherland are being invited to play a leading role in shaping the future of their communities by joining a new Neighbourhood Board being established.
This forms part of the UK's Pride in Place programme.
The call for board members follows the appointment of Frances Gunn and Ian Ross as Co-Chairs of the Sutherland Neighbourhood Board, bringing together strong local leadership to guide the programme and help develop a shared vision for the area's future.
This is a unique opportunity for local residents, community groups, businesses and organisations to help influence projects and investment that will benefit communities across Sutherland for years to come. The Neighbourhood Board will play a key role in identifying priorities, championing local projects and ensuring investment reflects the needs and aspirations of communities across the area.
The Pride in Place programme is designed to empower local communities to take a leading role in driving positive change, supporting sustainable economic growth, improving local places and creating opportunities for residents.
The new board will represent a broad cross-section of Sutherland's communities, and applications are now being sought from individuals who are passionate about making a difference and helping shape the area's future.
Councillor Ken Gowans, Chair of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee said: "This is an exciting opportunity for people from across Sutherland to have a direct influence on the future of their communities. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a range of skills, experiences and perspectives who can help ensure local priorities are at the heart of decision-making."
The board will work collaboratively to develop a shared vision for Sutherland, encourage community participation and support the delivery of projects that strengthen local economy, culture, environment and quality of life.
Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds, including representatives from community organisations, local businesses, the voluntary sector, young people, and individuals with an interest in community development and regeneration.
Ian Ross, Co-Chair of the Neighbourhood Board, added: "The success of the Pride in Place programme depends on strong local leadership and community involvement. We want to hear from people who care about Sutherland and who are committed to helping create lasting positive change for future generations."
Successful applicants will work alongside key stakeholders and partners to guide the development and implementation of the programme, ensuring that local voices are heard and reflected throughout.
