Highland residents are continuing to benefit from Highland Trusted Trader, which is celebrating its first anniversary after a successful year.
Over the last year, the scheme has helped consumers find reputable local businesses and supporting trusted local traders.
Since launching in September 2025, Highland Trusted Trader has continued to grow, with 19 vetted member businesses currently listed and a further 12 businesses progressing through the application and vetting process. During its first year, the scheme generated 208 published customer reviews, with an average rating of 4.75 out of 5. Customers regularly praised member businesses for their professionalism, communication, reliability and customer service.
The Highland Trusted Trader directory now includes businesses from a wide range of sectors, including electrical services, plumbing and heating, roofing, joinery, decorating, pest control, timber preservation and renewable energy.
Launched by The Highland Council Trading Standards in September 2025, the scheme was established to help consumers make more confident and informed choices when selecting local traders, while recognising businesses committed to high standards of service and professionalism.
All Highland Trusted Trader members undergo an independent vetting process, including checks on trading history, business practices, customer service standards and legal compliance. Members must also agree to abide by a Code of Practice that promotes honesty, integrity and fair trading.
The scheme also provides consumers with access to verified customer reviews, helping them make informed decisions based on the experiences of previous customers.

Highland Trusted Trader is part of Scotland Trusted Trader, a partnership involving local authority Trading Standards services, Trusted Directory Services and alternative dispute resolution providers.
