The by-election to elect a councillor to represent Ward 3 Wick and East Caithness on The Highland Council has been won by Julie Calder, Scottish Liberal Democrats who was one of 5 candidates who contested the vacancy.
Voters went to the poll yesterday (Thursday 1 October 2026) and the by-election count was held this morning in Wick Assembly Rooms.
Voting was by the single transferable vote and Julie emerged as the winner at stage1 of the count.
The turnout was 30%.
Ward 3 is a 4-member ward and Julie Calder will join fellow members Councillors Raymond Bremner, Andrew Jarvie, and Jan McEwan.
