Consumers are asked to check any eggs in their possession and look for the code 3UA1012066 printed directly on the eggs.
The Highland Council’s environmental health team is advising members of the public and businesses not to consume or use eggs stamped with the code 3UA1012066 following the detection of Salmonella Enteritidis in eggs originating from Yasensvit Ltd, Kyiv, Ukraine.
Food Standards Scotland (FSS), The Food Standards Agency (FSA), and Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) are currently working with Public Health Scotland (PHS), the UK Health Security Agency and other devolved public health agencies to investigate a national outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis (S. Enteritidis) across the UK.
Consumers are asked to check any eggs in their possession and look for the code 3UA1012066 printed directly on the eggs. Eggs from this producer may have been repacked and sold under different packaging, so it is important to check the code stamped on the egg itself.
These eggs may have been available through smaller independent retailers and convenience stores. They are not sold through major supermarket chains.
If you have purchased eggs bearing this code:
- Do not eat them.
- Return them to the shop where you purchased them for a refund, or
- Dispose of them safely.
Salmonella infection can cause symptoms including fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should seek appropriate medical advice.
For further information consumers should contact the retailer from whom the eggs were purchased.
