Nairn Harbour dredging works and temporary parking restrictions

Published: 22 October 2026

Residents and harbour users are being advised that essential dredging works will take place at Nairn Harbour from late October to support safe access for harbour users.

To facilitate the works, a temporary contractor compound will be established within part of Nairn Harbour car park and some parking restrictions will be in place while works are underway.

Heavy plant will also require access between the car park and beach area.  Members of the public are asked to follow temporary signage and barriers throughout the works.

The dredging operation is expected to begin on 28 October 2026 and will be carried out over two periods of spring tides, with work taking place over approximately four to five days during each period.

Following completion, all temporary works will be removed and the site reinstated.

The Highland Council thanks harbour users, local businesses and residents for their understanding while these essential works and associated temporary parking restrictions are in place.
