Double yellow lines

The presence of double yellow lines along the edge of the road means ‘no waiting at any time’. However, you may stop while passengers get in or out of the vehicle and to undertake loading or unloading, unless there are also loading restrictions in place. Parking behind a yellow line on the verge or footway will result in the issue of a Penalty Change Notice as it is classed as part of the road.

Sign plates are not normally provided next to double yellow lines.

Single yellow lines

The presence of single yellow lines along the edge of the road means that you cannot wait during the times shown on the adjacent sign plate. However, you may stop while passengers get in or out of the vehicle and to undertake loading or unloading, unless there are also loading restrictions in place.

Parking behind a yellow line on the verge or footway will result in the issue of a Penalty Change Notice as it is classed as part of the road.
