Releasing balloons and lanterns at events

How to release balloons and lanterns responsibly

We do not support balloon or paper lantern releases on our premises, by our staff, or at events we endorse.

We encourage everyone to think about the environmental impact and choose safer alternatives.

What we ask from event organisers

If you are planning an event in Highland that includes a balloon release:

  • tell us in writing at least 28 days before the event
  • confirm that you will follow the NABAS code of conduct

Alternatives to balloon releases

You can still have fun and raise money without releasing balloons. Try these ideas.

Balloon Popping Competition

Hide prize tags inside balloons in an enclosed space. People pop balloons to find prizes. Collect and dispose of burst balloons afterwards

Balloon Animals

Give prizes for the best, biggest or most colourful balloon creations

Round up the Herd

Use brooms to herd coloured balloons into matching pens. Score points for correct matches

Balloon Balance

See how many balloons someone can hold in 2 minutes using only their body. No help allowed
