Regeneration

We aim to bring vacant and derelict land and property back into productive use. We work in partnership with private, public and third sector organisations, identify and secure funds to help regeneration projects proceed.

Place-Based Investment Programme

The 2020 Programme for Government committed to establishing a Place-Based Investment Programme (PBIP), linking and aligning place-based funding initiatives. The aim of the PBIP is to ensure that all place-based investments are shaped by the needs and aspirations of local communities and accelerate ambitions for place, 20-minute neighbourhoods, town centre action, community-led regeneration and community wealth building.

To advance the Place Principle, the Scottish Government awarded the Highland Council a capital grant of £1,963,000 for 2021-22. The grant has been distributed at the area committee level. More information on the PBIP and area distribution can be found in the agenda of the Economy and Infrastructure Committee meeting held on 1 September 2021.

The RCGF is delivered in partnership with the Scottish Government and COSLA. This year, for the first time, RCGF will streamline the funding previously delivered through the Vacant and Derelict Investment Programme and the RCGF into one fund.

The Fund supports locally developed place-based regeneration projects that involve local communities, helping to tackle inequalities and deliver inclusive growth in deprived and fragile communities across Scotland.
