Domestic abuse

Guidance for private landlords

Everyone should have the opportunity to live in safe and secure housing. People living in Highland's private rented sector are just as likely to experience domestic abuse as those in other types of accommodation.

Landlords and letting agents may be the first or only community members a survivor speaks to about their experiences. They may also be concerned about domestic abuse occurring in their properties.

Landlord organisations have contributed to the development of guidance for private landlords. While landlords and letting agents are not expected to be specialists, access to this guidance and information can help them respond appropriately and safely within their role.
