Garden aid for elderly or disabled council tenants

Work standards

Complaints

If you are unhappy with the service, you will be given contact details for the grass cutting contractor. If they cannot resolve your issue:

  • Contact our Service Centre or visit your local Service Point
  • We will inspect the work, and if it is not up to standard, the contractor will be asked to fix it

Grass-cutting Schedule

Service runs from April to early October and the number of cuts per month varies:

  • April, May, September, October: 1 cut per month
  • June, July, August: 2 cuts per month

If your garden has not been cut during these times, contact the contractor first. Delays may happen due to bad weather. You may be asked to move items to allow cutting. If not moved, contractors will cut around them.

Working Hours

Work will be completed on Monday to Friday between 8am to 6pm. Contractors must ask for your permission to work outside these hours.

Contractor responsibilities

Contractors will:

  • treat you, your home, and garden with respect
  • protect garden items that don’t need to be moved
  • not smoke or play music/radio in your garden or home
  • expect you to control pets during visits

Staff will carry ID cards with:

  • their photo
  • their name
  • a contact number for verification

Contractors should not need to use your electricity. If needed, they will ask for your permission first.
