Safe storage and charging
You need a safe place to store and charge your scooter.
The safest place is outside your home, for example in a shed. The storage must be secure, clean and dry.
Do not store or charge your scooter in a hallway or escape route. This could block your way out in a fire. Petrol scooters must never be kept inside or in shared areas.
If you cannot store it outside, you may be able to use a room inside with a fire-resistant door and a smoke detector. You need permission before building any external storage.
Charge your scooter at home or in a designated charging area outside. Never charge it in communal spaces such as corridors, stairwells or laundry rooms.
We recommend:
- testing your charging kit every year
- keeping your scooter serviced according to the manufacturer’s instructions
