Apply for a mutual exchange
You must fill in a mutual exchange form.
Once you apply, we will check:
- whether the homes are suitable for each household (not overcrowded or underused)
- whether either home has been adapted for special needs
- the condition of both homes
- whether there are any tenancy-related debts
- whether there are any outstanding repairs that are your responsibility
- whether legal action is being taken or there are anti-social behaviour issues
- whether you have lived in your home for at least 12 months
- whether the other landlord agrees to the exchange
- whether your joint tenant or partner has given written consent (if required)
We will also carry out a full inspection of your home.
We will give you a decision within 28 days.
If you swap homes, your right to buy your home may change.
