If your exchange is approved
If we approve your exchange:
- you and the other tenant agree a moving date
- you both sign new tenancy agreements
- you are responsible for rent on your current home until the other tenant signs their new agreement
Cleaning responsibilities
Before moving, both households must:
- deep clean the home using normal household disinfectant
- pay special attention to bathrooms, door handles, grab rails and other frequently touched surfaces
You are responsible for cleaning your home. Your landlord will not do this for you.
If you move again soon after exchanging
If you give up your new tenancy within 6 months, we may charge you for the cost of processing the exchange. This includes things like safety checks.
We will not charge you if:
- you stay in the home for more than 6 months
- there are exceptional reasons for ending the tenancy early
