Support for Veterans

The following organisations offer a range of support services for veterans:

  • Royal British Legion provides practical support and advice.
  • Poppyscotland offers tailored support and funding for the Armed Forces community, including advice, financial assistance, mobility housing, and mental health support.
  • SSAFA supports both regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, and Royal Air Force, as well as their families and anyone who has completed National Service. Contact your Inverness-shire & Western Isles SSAFA branch.
  • The Veterans Welfare Service offers individual support to veterans, their families, and dependants through a network of welfare managers across the UK.
  • Pensions for Veterans provides information related to the Armed Forces Pension Schemes.
  • Veterans UK offers free support for veterans and their families, including a helpline, Veterans Welfare Service, Defence Transition Services, and injury or bereavement compensation schemes.
  • Forces Families Jobs is the primary resource for training, employment, and volunteering opportunities for family members of currently serving UK military personnel.
  • The Naval, Army, and RAF Families Federations provide confidential support on a variety of issues.
  • Careers Transition Partnership offers resettlement services for those leaving the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, and Royal Marines.
  • Seafarer Support offers guidance based on the UK Maritime Charities Welfare Guide and directs you to the most suitable charity. It covers the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Merchant Navy, and others.
