Joining the Cadets
The Service Cadet movement includes the Sea Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force, Royal Air Force Air Cadets and Combined Cadet Force. Its aim is to help young people develop and prepare for adulthood by enabling them to confront the challenges of a changing society through engaging, military-themed and community-based activities.
The Cadet Forces also support the personal and social development of young people. They instil attributes such as good citizenship, leadership and responsibility, while promoting physical and mental fitness and self-reliance.
The movement also emphasises positive contributions to local communities. Cadets regularly take part in civic ceremonies, including public and military parades, as well as charitable activities.
If you are interested in becoming a cadet or an adult volunteer, detailed information is available through the Highland Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.
In recognition of the contribution that the cadets make to the civic life of communities in the Highlands, the Council has established a Cadet Grant Scheme to support cadet units located solely in the Highland Council area.
