The Highland and Western Isles Valuation Joint Board (HWIVJB) is an independent public authority established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995.

We provide a professional valuation and electoral registration service for both Highland and Western Isles areas in respect of the compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll, Valuation (Council Tax) Lists, and Registers of Electors.

Clerical Assistant

Salary - £24,606 – £26,244

Applications are invited for this full-time permanent post. The post can be based in our office in either Inverness or Wick.

As part of a team, you will be required to carry out all clerical tasks associated with the post.  You will also deal with enquiries from members of the public and others by e-mail, on the telephone or via letter, and at the public reception desk. Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Experience of working in a business support environment is desirable.

You will be required to undertake a basic Disclosure check.

Electoral canvasser

Salary – £13.96 per hour with mileage rate of 55p per mile

Canvassers will work alongside staff in our area offices in Highland and Western Isles to doorstep canvass properties in the following areas:

  • Lewis and Harris
  • Badenoch and Strathspey
  • Caithness
  • Lochaber

Hours are flexible, with some evening and Saturday work required. You will be required to visit assigned properties to make attempts to obtain electoral registration information from properties using a tablet. Telephone canvassing may also be required to obtain the information.

You will be required to undertake a basic Disclosure check.
