We are working to make the Highlands the most digitally connected rural region in Europe. This project is part of the City-Region Deal and focuses on improving:
- superfast broadband coverage
- mobile connectivity
- digital access for residents
- digital adoption by businesses
The project is supported by £20 million in funding from the UK Government.
What we are doing
We are identifying and developing ways to extend digital coverage across the Highlands. This includes:
- planning new infrastructure to support superfast broadband and mobile networks
- working with communities and businesses to understand local needs
- aligning with national programmes like the Scottish Government’s R100 initiative
Why this matters
Improved digital connectivity helps:
- residents access services and stay connected
- businesses grow and compete
- communities become more resilient and sustainable
