Eligibility
The fund can be used to set up or grow a reuse or repair project, run workshops or events that teach repair and upcycling skills or reduce waste and carbon emissions in your community.
Projects are expected to meet at least one of the following priority themes:
- Community-led waste reduction: Projects that help communities reuse, repair or improve old items instead of throwing them away
- Skills for sustainable living: Projects that teach people how to repair, mend and reuse items in creative ways. These skills can help save money and reduce waste
Examples of eligible projects
- setting up repair cafes, reuse hubs or upcycling workshops
- running community swap or reuse events
- delivering creative upcycling or circular economy projects
- hosting sustainable living workshops
- creating community tool libraries or resource hubs
- sharing traditional skills through intergenerational learning
Examples of ineligible projects
- projects that focus on recycling such as collection of metal cans for recycling
- community compost schemes
- food redistribution schemes and food banks
Fair Work First
Fair Work First is the Scottish Government’s policy to promote fair and high-quality work.
To apply for this fund, you must include a signed statement confirming your organisation supports:
- the Real Living Wage
- Effective Voice (for example, involving staff in decision-making)
Your application cannot progress without this statement.
