The Inverness Castle project will transform the former courthouse into a major visitor attraction that celebrates the spirit and heritage of the Highlands.
The project aims to:
- attract new and repeat visitors to the area
- create a sustainable and viable cultural destination
- support the local economy through tourism and creative industries
The redeveloped castle will include:
- the refurbished Castle Viewpoint in the north tower (now complete)
- a new visitor and heritage centre within the wider castle site
- exhibitions and interpretive programmes
- innovative digital and multimedia displays
The centre will offer a high-quality experience for visitors and locals, showcasing the stories, landscapes and culture of the Highlands.
The project is supported by £15 million from the Scottish Government and £1.63 million from the UK Government.
