What we are doing
Site investigations
Initial intrusive site investigations have been completed to assess contamination levels and identify the remediation work required. These findings have been discussed with SEPA.
Further investigations are underway, with a follow-up report due to be submitted to SEPA in July 2019. An agreement in principle is expected by September 2019.
Coordination with infrastructure projects
The development of the Longman site is closely linked to the proposed new interchange at the Longman roundabout. The site cannot be developed or let until the interchange is built.
The amount of land available for development will depend on:
- land required for the interchange
- associated infrastructure such as SUDS ponds
- diversion of gas and oil pipelines
The Highland Council is working closely with Transport Scotland to coordinate activities and share information to ensure both projects deliver maximum benefit to the Highlands.
