Eligibility criteria
Business open only on certain days
You qualify for the grant if your business was trading on 2 November, even if it was closed that day. Being closed on certain days of the week does not affect eligibility.
Business choosing to close despite being allowed to operate
If your business was legally allowed to operate but you chose to close due to low demand, you are eligible for the restrictions grant, not the closure grant.
Tenants applying for grants
Tenants in qualifying sectors can apply for the grant. You must provide a copy of your lease with your application.
Businesses without permanent premises
You are not eligible if you do not operate from a non-domestically rated premises. Future schemes may support businesses without permanent premises—check the Council’s website for updates.
Council tax-rated properties
If your property is not non-domestically rated and you pay council tax, you do not qualify for this grant. The Scottish Government has confirmed that only non-domestic rateable properties are eligible. Future schemes may support sectors like B&Bs—check the Council’s website for updates.
Using a personal bank account
You can still qualify if you use a personal bank account for your business. The account must be in your name or the business name and show business income and outgoings. A formal business account is preferred but not required.
