Free Period Products
Free Period Products: Highland
Free period products are available in Highland to everyone who needs them. They can be accessed at our community locations, through a home delivery service and are also available to pupils in schools.
This work is in line with the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021, which aims to fight period poverty, promote period dignity, and break the stigma surrounding periods in Scotland.
Who can access free period products?
Everyone can access the free period products. Whether you need them for yourself or for someone else, if you live or work locally, or you are visiting the Highlands, you are welcome to take what you need at our collection points.
How can I access free period products?
- Community collection points
Free period products are available in community premises, such as High Life Highland leisure centres, libraries, and Council service points. They are also provided at many community larders and foodbanks through our partnership work with CFINE.
You can access information on community collection points in Highland on the map on the MyPeriodLive (external link) website or via the PickUpMyPeriod app. To download the app visit:- Apple Store (external link) for IOS devices, or
- Google Play (external link) for Android devices.
- Schools
If you are a pupil at a Highland Council school, you will be able to access free period products in your school.
Home delivery
We also provide a free postal home delivery service in partnership with the social enterprise Hey Girls for Highland residents who cannot reasonably easily pick up products in the community or in schools, for example due to living rurally, for health reasons, isolation or cultural reasons.
You can also use the service to order reusable products regardless of your circumstances.
Please be aware that you will need to allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery and that a Highland Council postcode is required. To receive a six-month supply of your chosen products, please fill in the online form below (Survey Monkey).
To find out what we do with your data, read our privacy notice.
What types of products are available?
You can access disposable pads and tampons at our collection points and through the home delivery service. We also provide reusable products such as menstrual cups and reusable pads which can be ordered using the home delivery service provided on our behalf by Hey Girls.
Our work in Highland
We aim to ensure that period products are freely available in Highland and that this work will be carried out in a way that respects the dignity of anyone who needs to access products.
To inform our arrangements for provision in communities, a public consultation was carried out between July and August 2022. Free period products are now available from collection points across Highland or by a home delivery service.
Free period products have been supplied in schools in Highland since 2018/19. During the 2022/23 school year we will engage with young people in schools to help us to understand how this provision is working and to consider what improvements can be made.
For further details of the steps we are taking in both schools and the community, you can read our Statement on Exercise of Functions.
