The Care and Repair service is a partnership between us and local housing associations.
It provides free information and advice to:
- homeowners and private tenants aged over 65
- people of any age with a disability
The service helps with repairs, improvements, or adaptations to your home.
What we do
Care and Repair can:
- organise surveys and drawings
- obtain prices for work
- apply for grants towards the work
- assist with loans and other funding applications
- organise the works
- approach other agencies who may be able to help
Adaptations
We can help with adaptations to your home to suit your needs, including:
- safe access inside or outside the building
- works to improve personal care or health needs
Your needs will be assessed by a Social Work or NHS Occupational Therapy Practitioner. Their recommendations will form the basis of the work we offer.
Repairs and improvements
We can advise on and assist with repairs or improvements, such as:
- structural instability
- dampness
- rot or structural infestation
- defective electrical supply
- lack of thermal insulation
- inadequate drainage or water supply
- lack of toilet, basin, bath or shower
- inadequate light or ventilation
Your property will be assessed by a Technical Officer. Their recommendations will form the basis of the work we offer.
