Leasing or selling your property for affordable housing

Residential leasing scheme

Our Residential Leasing Scheme helps provide homes where housing options are limited. Property owners lease their homes to us, and we sub-let them to tenants.

This can be a way to bring empty or second homes back into use.

Your property must:

  • meet our minimum standards for repair, energy efficiency and letting (or will do once work is complete)
  • meet a housing need that cannot be met through other options
  • be leased to us for an amount that covers our management and future maintenance costs

Contact your local housing office to check if your property meets this criteria.

Current availability

We are taking on very few leases at the moment. If you own an empty property or second home, we can advise you on other options. Email: housing.development@highland.gov.uk/
