Highland Council winter road condition and school closure report for Tuesday 2 December 2025

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Highland Council road conditions report for Tuesday 2 December is as follows:

Ross and Cromarty East (as at 07:59)

All primary and secondary routes treated this morning. Temperatures marginal with routes going below at daylight for short duration. Odd icy patch and sparkle on higher sections of routes. No overnight issues reported.

Caithness (as at 08:05)

Mainly damp roads this morning with temperatures expected to dip for a short time once daylight comes in. Most weekend routes being treated as a precaution. No known overnight issues to report.

Sutherland (as at 08:03)

Mainly damp roads with an odd sparkle in sheltered areas, all routes treated as necessary.

Skye and Raasay (as at 07:15)

No winter action. Temperatures remaining well above freezing. No other known issues reported overnight.

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh (as ay 07:25)

A wetter start than forecast. Action launched this morning only on a few routes. Temperatures already rising and no overnight calls. No known issues on the network at the time of posting.

Lochaber (as at 08:22)

Positive forecast temperatures - no winter treatment required, heavy rain overnight. No road issues reported.

Nairn (as at 07:30)

Wet roads this morning. Primary and secondary roads treated on higher routes. No known overnight issues.

Inverness (as at 07:47)

Some grey frost at Tomfat and Culnakirk this morning. Treated relevant areas, no other action and no known issues.

Badenoch and Strathspey (as at 07:32)

Wet roads with the odd frost patch on rural routes. Primary and secondary routes being treated in the Strathspey area. No known overnight issues.
