The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.
Highland Council road conditions report for 14 November 2025 is as follows:
Sutherland (as at 08:45)
Most areas affected by hoar frost with odd icy patches, and light snow cover on higher routes. All routes currently being treated in order of priority. No known issues.
Caithness (as at 07:41)
Last evening grit on priority routes (damp roads). Morning gritting on all Primary and Secondary routes. Some sparkle on sheltered areas.
Lochaber (as at 07:38)
Winter action as planned according to policy. Very low temperatures overnight, dry and damp roads. No problems overnight.
Skye And Raasay (as at 07:27)
Low Road surface temperatures overnight into this morning. All roads reported dry, no ice. Treatment continuing as planned according to policy. No other issues reported.
Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh (as at 07:23)
Plummeting overnight road surface temperatures prompted precautionary gritting last night for this morning's traffic. Further gritting on Bealach na Bà and Ullapool side routes this morning.
Badenoch and Strathspey (as at 07:14)
Sleet and rain across the network this morning. All routes being treated according to policy and priority this morning. No known overnight issues.
Nairn (as at 07:13)
Sleet and rain across the network this morning with a light dusting of snow on higher routes. All routes being treated this morning according to policy and priority. No known overnight issues.
Ross and Cromarty (East) (as at 07:09)
Cold but dry morning. All routes being treated according to policy and priority. No known overnight issues
Inverness (as at 05:33)
Roads mainly dry but low road surface temperatures. Covering all primary and secondary routes and footpaths. no known issues
Central Primary School, Inverness is closed today due to lack of heating. Check for school closures at www.highland.gov.uk/schoolclosures - please note that this page is cleared at 4pm each day (Monday to Friday).
