Funding Boost for Community Reuse and Repair Projects Across Highland

Round 2 of The Highland Council’s Reuse and Repair Fund opens this week on Thursday 2 April.  Grants of between £2,000 and £50,000 are available to support a range of community‑led initiatives that will help people repair, reuse and upcycle materials - reducing waste and supporting a stronger circular economy.

The first round of the Reuse and Repair Fund highlighted the talent, creativity and determination that exists within communities across Highland.  From repair cafés and creative workshops to training opportunities that build practical skills, the funded projects are empowering local communities to extend the life of everyday items while supporting environmental sustainability.

The first group to get started on their project after a £29,350 award from Reuse and Repair Fund was Grantown Remakery.

Volunteer Pete Carson said of the grant: “This is brilliant because it comes as another vote of confidence in us.  The fund contribution will be a big help to developing more possibilities here.”

Development Manager, George Livingstone, went on to say: “I would encourage any community group in the Highlands with an interest in waste to consider applying.  It is certainly going to make a huge difference to us, meaning that we can accept more items for repair and extend the life of many pre-loved items.”

Applications will close at 12 noon on Friday 22 May, with a further round planned for later in the year.
